Gaming Resort Development Case Study

Project Overview

The Gaming Resort Development opened in July 2022 in Friant, CA, just north of Fresno. The
600,000-square-foot facility includes a 110,000-square-foot casino floor, a 2,100-seat event center, 171 hotel rooms, numerous restaurants, and many other luxurious amenities.

In collaboration with Tutor Perini and Excel Engineering, The Berg Group’s work began in 2019 and focused on the creation of the low-rise section of the casino. Berg’s contributions to the project included design build services, framing, drywall, paint, insulation, and plaster; critical components in the success of building out a contemporary, sophisticated casino while still retaining the hometown type of experience that guests had been accustomed to.

BRING IT. BUILD IT. OWN IT. SHARE IT.

Through partnership with Tutor Perini and Excel Engineering, as well as other project subcontractors, The Berg Group began work at the earliest stages of development, allowing the project team to dissect the job and work directly with the general contractor in developing a project-sequencing schedule that clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and deadlines to meet the ambitious opening date of the resort.

“You can see the massiveness and enormity of this project and that doesn’t happen with one or two people, it literally is everyone jumping in and helping.”

Prefabrication was an essential component to the success of this project:

  • The Berg Group worked with Tutor Perini throughout the design build process, value engineering geometric tiles out of glass fiber reinforced gypsum (GFRG) that were fabricated offsite and later installed onsite.
  • A Panel Max machine was used to prefabricate intricate soffits and bulkheads that were utilized throughout the casino floor and events center.
  • Berg also prefabricated the Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) systems for soffits and bulkheads, as well as utilized pre-manufactured solutions and jigging of soffit assemblies.

The accuracy and efficiency of these processes were essential in creating a high-quality, visually-appealing facility within the established project timeline.
